First off, I don't know if its crap or not. You have at least 2 choices and neither are code related. Either add a default to that column in that table and everywhere else missing defaults that also use an incomplete insert statement. Or, change the 'strict' mode in my.cnf and restart mysql. This particular error is caused by the STRICT_TRANS_TABLES SQL mode.
Google a bit and you will find how to fix it.
